Friday Five: Seattle Restaurants for V-Day

Friday Five: Seattle Restaurants for V-Day

This week’s Friday Five link-up hosted by Cynthia at You Signed Up for What, Courtney at Eat, Pray, Run DC, and Mar at Mar on the Run is about Food & Drinks. Since I so rarely write about Seattle restaurants and Valentine’s Day is this weekend, I thought I’d share five restaurants I love in the rainy emerald city. While the five are probably fully booked for Sunday, these are great spots for locals and tourists alike to experience anytime of year.

Quickie Star Wars

Quickie Star Wars

This runDisney trip took about 12 parsecs. If only LA was just six parsecs from Seattle this trip would have been less stressful. With Le Mops having surgery on his neck just days before the Rebel Challenge, the leisurely runcation changed drastically. Artboy, who had already deferred the races, stayed home and watched the pugs. I headed to Disneyland with a friend, feeling like a bad mama.

Running in Rain, not gonna do it

Running in Rain, not gonna do it

It rained for the 2014 Wine and Dine, it rained during all my long runs for Dopey 2015 and at Dopey, and then it rained for like 3/4 of my races in 2015, including Marathon du Medoc. I am over rain. I’m not running in rain this year.

Running for Noah’s Light Foundation

Running for Noah’s Light Foundation

As part of my returning to my roots in 2016, I said I was going to race more for charity. Well, I haven’t decided on a Team Challenge run yet for CCFA, but I am raising money for Noah’s Light Foundation as part of my Star Wars Darkside Challenge in April. I was already registered for this, so every dollar you donate goes directly to Noah’s Light. None of it supports my race habit or the expensive hotel rooms! I’ve got that part covered.

#TuesdaysontheRun Bizarre Race Dreams

#TuesdaysontheRun Bizarre Race Dreams

Tuesdays on the Run hosted by No-Guilt Life, MCM Momma, and Marcia’s Healthy Slice is all about race dreams today. Stop on by the LinkUp and read everyone’s crazy race dreams. I have very vivid dreams, many of which are long dystopian sagas that if I bothered to write down might become the next Twilight (but better). While I don’t have stress dreams the night, or week, before a race, there is one race dream I have had multiple times over the last couple of years, always slightly different, but generally follows the same story line. The timing of it doesn’t fall particularly close to any race or even during a tough training period. Perhaps it has to do with my choice of varietal with dinner, who knows?

Sunday Sad Day

Sunday Sad Day

Yesterday morning, while so many of my friends were celebrating an amazing accomplishment with the final race of Dopey, I was at the vet with Le Mops. What had started three weeks ago as an ear infection had suddenly turned quite serious, he woke up unable to walk. This wasn’t a slow, gradual leading up to his lameness. He could walk Saturday. He couldn’t walk Sunday. I have so many thoughts about what caused this, including the rimadyl he was prescribed Monday. The vet had other ideas. He was checked into the animal hospital. That set the tone of the day. I took a nap, but mostly just sat around sad.
