If you’ve traveled to any race with me, you know that I have a soft spot for doTerra essential oils, which I received for free at the LuLuLemon SeaWheeze race a while back. However, ordering more proved to a bigger challenge than I wanted to deal with and by the time I decided to order more, the kits had changed. Call it laziness. But then I kickstarted a nifty unicorn diffuser and decided I needed oils for it. So with some research, I landed on Young Living (mainly because a good friend was part of their sales force and I wanted to support her).

I loaded my first order with stuff geared towards my running, mainly because I didn’t know if I’d keep ordering or when my next order would be. I also picked up an oil to diffuse for hormone balance and a couple oil blends for Lola the Pug.

Young Living oils for workouts

A couple of my workout staples.

Cool Azule Sports Gel: Aloe based sports gel with that peppermint chill that feels like Biofreeze. I can’t use Biofreeze because the coconut content is too high and I get a rash. There are a few arnica gels available and I do love Zim’s Max Freeze foot spray. That’s where Cool Azul steps in. It’s a thin gel, similar to a massage oil, that offers a cool relief. Cool Azul® is a Young Living proprietary essential oil blend that combines exclusives Dorado Azul and Plectranthus Oregano, as well as Peppermint, Wintergreen, Sage, Copaiba, and Blue Cypress. I rub it on my swollen ankles after my runs and have let Artboy borrow it for his knee. Works wonderful on achy backs as well! The chill means you can feel it working or at least trick your brain into believing it’s working. So far, I’m still a believer.

Deep Relief Roller: Deep Relief is similar to the doTerra product I fell in love with. It’s built on Peppermint and Wintergreen, so while it works by creating a cool feeling on the skin, the aroma opens up my lungs and helps energize me during and after a run. The roller is easy to carry and can be whipped out for sharing when you drag friends on a 10 mile recovery walk (sorry!)

Peppermint Vitality: The vitality line is geared towards ingesting, not just diffusing or using on the body. I use peppermint tea to open up my lungs before a run and a couple drops in water seems to help keep me moving. I like a peppermint lemon blend personally. I also put a couple drops of peppermint along my chest for long runs as a pick me up when I need it. Peppermint sweat is magical, I swear. I’ve heard R.C. blend is supposed to be good for magical sweat as well, but I haven’t tried it yet as I’m allergic to eucalyptus. I’ll report back once I’m running again.

All of this comes in a handy sports pack with a carrying case that has made its way into my travel bag! The Active & Fit kit includes: Cool Azul Sports Gel, Deep Relief essential oil blend, R.C. essential oil blend, Thieves essential oil blend, Copaiba essential oil, Peppermint Vitality essential oil, and  3 AromaGlide® roller fitments.

So yeah, you can say I’m pretty sold on Young Living so far. I’ll have to report back as the days wear on. (***The link to Young Living’s site autofills my sponsor information if you’d like to purchase oils wholesale or retail.** You can sign up as a distributor for the wholesale discount without selling, but you may decide you want to share the love.)
