My 16-week training program flew by this year and I’m just 10 days away from heading to Vegas to run on December 2. While running the strip at night is an amazing experience; what is more amazing is the support I’ve received from so many of you. Your donations and encouragement have kept me going.

If you’ve been keeping up with my occasional blog, I did not have a great 13.1 runDisney miles last week. On raceday, I came down with the flu. Yes, that morning I woke up with what I thought was a cold. By the time I hit the corrals at 9 p.m., it was obviously the flu and I was sure I wouldn’t finish. But I made it across the finish line with ArtBoy in tow. I was slow. I was not happy, but I did it.
It’s a week later and I’m still feeling the aches and pains of the flu, but I’m headed out in the rain later today to run 6 miles or so. From the forecast, it looks like I’ll be running in the rain right up until I get on that plane. I’ll be taking it easy so I’m ready to run and not sick again! Lucky for you, the sun arrives just as I leave! I’m ready for Vegas. I don’t know how fast I’ll be, but I’m ready!

That brings me to my fundraising goal. I am currently just $150 away from matching what I raised last year. I am less than $2,000 away from my goal of $10,000!!!! That’s amazing. http://www.active.com/donate/seaLV12/kmacris
I really wanted to go big this year after my arm surgery. It’s kind of a comeback story for me. I started training barely able to run 2 minutes before my lungs and my arm hated me. And now I’m back up to 13.1 miles. I never expected it to be this hard the second time.
I also wanted to go big this year because my mom’s year hasn’t been the best! I’m doing this in support of her. I don’t just want her to (finally) find a medication that works for her. I want there to be a cure. I want her to be able to travel the world without worry. I would love to hit my goal of $10,000 this year so I know that I did everything I could for my her.

Here are a couple of donation suggestions: http://www.active.com/donate/seaLV12/kmacris
  • $13.10 is one dollar for every mile I will run in Vegas
  • $30 provides a membership to someone in need to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation
  • $65.50 is five dollars for every mile I will run in Vegas
  • $100 is enough to make me hig you the next time I see you
  • $300 supports a Camp Oasis camper in need, for one day
  • $1,250 sends a child with IBD to Camp Oasis for one week
Whether it’s $5 or $500, I am grateful for your support. And as I like to say, my mom’s guts will thank you!!! http://www.active.com/donate/seaLV12/kmacris

It’s just 10 days before I get on a plane to Vegas!!! Unbelievable
